Having started with Drudkh, I stumbled upon this band. The first time I heard it I was outside on a cold moonlit night, under the influence of cannabis. At first I thought that the album was defective because of the abrupt song stops. I quickly realized that it wasn't, and I didn't care, regardless: the melodies and the atmosphere are so captivating that it defies description. The gutteral vocals caught me off guard and melded with the scenery, as if the forests in the hills I stood next to were echoing the voice of some nocturnal cryptid. I was nearly brought to tears by how beautiful and captivating this album is. This is extremely raw music. It's all tremolo picking and blastbeats. If you need variation in your music, this is not for you. But if you like the trance-inducing style of black metal, this may be your new favorite album.(Purity is just as good, in my opinion, and may be an easier place to start. Together, they make up two of the best metal albums I've ever heard.)
