Brilliant dark ambient album, and quite a contrast from his previous works. There are no melodies or rhythms, just washes of sound which seem to hover like wisps of smoke in the air. Most of the pieces are drone-like, floating through an aural haze of reverberant space, while "Tone 4" consists of shapeless timbres which hover on the verge of tonality. Simultaneously eerie and beautiful, this is one of those albums best experienced alone, at night, and with all the lights out.
