On his debut PYRAMIDES, Trouble Over Tokyo offers his troubadour stylings on the coolly stark "Start Making Noise" before bursting into a full synth-pop explosion on the chorus. Certainly, he does mine the moodier side of things, from the earnest "Save Us" to the hints of string-laden R&B that cover "The Liar." He brings a female vocalist for the give-and-take of "4,228" and a romantic swoon to "Eyes Off Me." The twitchy percussion on "My Anxiety" gives that track a darker rub, while the final track, "Pyramids," goes for a music box-like theme that carries a subtle grace. There's no trouble to be found here at all!
