Very good album. I have this on vinyl and cd. The cd version is mastered excellently, but the vinyl version just does not sound right. I had 2 copies, one extremely warped one that skipped (which i returned) and the one I currently have. The first tracks sound good, but after the 3rd track, if has too much IGD, even with a new cartridge and having it properly set up. It needs a repress on black vinyl, because this version just sounds awful.

I must have got lucky with my white copy purchased from here for 12 pounds - this is a lush sounding record with superb sonics. After a few so-so albums over the past ten years, 'Super' is a solid return to form for the Pets with witty lyrics and cunning basslines - superb album :)

Been playing great for me. Sounds wonderful on vinyl. There is a lushness to it when listened to it this way that actually gives the electronics a weirdly organic feel. Just my opinion anyway.

The pet shop boys are past their expiration date in my opinion... This release is no comparison in quality to their music from the 80s and 90s. Just bad to be brutally honest.

Being a long time fan, I can't bear the jingle style songwriting that's the worst of PSB's B sides, and this album seems full of it from beginning to end. Feels like I'm the only person who hates this album.

I'm playing my copy of Super with a Stanton 680 HP with weight at 1.5. No issues at all. It's not a cheap pressing, but I don't think it feels like a 180 Gram LP.

This is one of the few albums where a great artist of the past managed to create new, orignal sounds … without throwing away their beloved style or being captured in an infinite loop of rehashing one-hit singles. If you have liked the good old atmospheric PSB, don't hesitate and buy this album. I did so after hearing the first two tracks and wasn't disappointed. Favourites so far: Tracks 1, 2, 7, 8 and 12.

Got my second copy. Same issue of non-fill on the first 2 tracks. I gave up listening after that. Going to stick to digital on this. Hopefully they repress, and not on coloured vinyl.

I've now had four copies through my hands (I got curious after getting the much better one, which was disc #2, as to whether I could find one that played absolutely perfectly) and while I've settled on one that sounds and plays the best of the four, I've made a few observations:This is fundamentally not a good pressing. It's possible to luck out and pick up a good copy but all four LPs were affected by non-fill - two badly, two less so. The most tracks I've heard affected in a single copy is six (A1 to A5 as well as B1); the fewest is one (just a couple of split-seconds on A1). Quality control should have picked this up: it clearly isn't isolated.Unrelated, I think, to the above, the mastering isn't great - there is identical distortion on the final minute or so of each side. It's soft and doesn't exactly ruin the album but it's far more degradation than I'd expect from the deck I'm using. Of 800 records or so, I have very few that get this bad at the end of sides. It's a sound I'd associate with an old, worn record, not a new one.Perhaps most worryingly, track A3 had two sticking points the first time I played through copy #4 - they were gone the second time I played the album but no new album should ever stick with an ortofon 2m bronze unless it's seriously defective. I had already run the disc through the Spin Clean so don't think static or dirt were at fault.So in essence, if you have a decent deck and love this album, it IS worth picking up on vinyl as by and large it sounds good, but you'll need a bit of patience and a discerning ear if you want a copy to play and enjoy.

You were right! I got another copy from Amazon, and so far (middle of side A) none of that awful zipping sound in the left channel!

POS white vinyl. why oh why record companies continue to press coloured vinyl is beyond me, as its not for sound quality.sounds OK, but the white vinyl always wipes out a bit of the top end. pressings seems OK except for one buzz on track one, however due to the POS white vinyl you can't check exactly what the problem is. will try and clean a bit more, otherwise will return for replacement

Colored vinyl in general is not necessarily bad. I have all the Depeche Mode colored 12" singles from the '80s, and most of them sound great. But white.... yes, I have had several issues with white vinyl.

upon first play of side 1, track 1 skipped twice and track 6 skipped once. eh, it came with a free yellow SUPER turntable mat, so it's ok if it has a couple issues. no biggie. still a good album.

My copy plays just fine so maybe I'm one of the lucky ones, I was using a linear tracking TT so maybe that made a difference.

Having had two copies, one of which was fine and the other of which was dreadful, I'm pretty sure the problem is non-fill as the user below suggests, meaning the noise would have been present on any setup. So enjoy the LP - you got lucky!

I can confirm that not all copies suffer from this problem (which is, as identified by another user below, non-fill). I got my copy exchanged at rough trade and the replacement plays perfectly (except for a little, much softer, distortion at the very end of side 2). In addition the entire left channel is stronger. So there are duff copies around, but still some good ones. I take back my original review - when the disc isn't faulty, this pressing sounds fantastic!
