April77 were so impressed by these original demos they asked to release them 'as is' rather than record full studio versions of the songs. The generic April77 label sleeve includes a bespoke 'scratch panel' which gives a unique code allowing the purchaser a free download of the songs as MP3's from label website. Influences include Post Punk, Constructive Design and Dystopian literature. A dark reverberated sound, relentless drum beats, haunting vocals and intangible lyrics make PENUMBRA 1 a morose, atmospheric wall of synth noise, effects, and robotic drumming. Lyrics such as 'I only think in black and white' and vocal delivery are pure Ian Curtis. CIVILITY is more light hearted and up-beat, a melodic underlying guitar riff contrasts a beautiful synthesizer lead.
