My name is Karen Nelson Bell, but at the time this album was recorded, my stage name was Kelly Stevens. I'm honored that I had the opportunity to work for more than 2 decades with the brilliant late Billy Tragesser, known as Billy T, the late Bill Plavan, and the marvelous Carmen Castaldi. We recorded this very fast, thanks to Johani Altonen. We were working at a jazz nightclub in Helsinki, where Johani found us performing a Disney medley, and he came up with the idea to expand it to a full album. One thing I remember vividly is that while the nightclub was indeed a jazz venue, no one told us that during the Christmas holidays, all the reindeer farmers came down from Lapland to enjoy tipping a few (or many). Even though we followed Ella Fitzgerald, no one had a clue what we were about... they all wanted to hear American country music! I hope you enjoy these adventuresome tracks!
