My copy came with a lot of scratches and some kind of residual blue plastic dust,unfortunately.Haven't played it yet though It's a beautiful piece,but with all the problems I'm not sure it's that worth it.I only bought it because I really like Lorde and Melodrama is a fantastic album,besides being a gorgeous vinyl.

I finally received my copy from Amazon today (7/31/2018). It had been on backorder for so many months I had forgotten all about it. Noticed it was pressed by Cheesy (GZ) Media so I was immediately alarmed at what I was expecting to hear-- the usual mix of loud random pops and non-fill distortions that they have become so well-known for over the years. What a surprise! GZ actually did a good job on this baby! The mastering is solid, a great overall pressing. Very nice packaging including a Stoughton tip-on gatefold jacket, lyrics booklet and set of art prints. This is well worth owning if you like Lorde. I always machine clean new records and resleeve before playing. Not doing this is a common reason for complaints about surface noise.

the deluxe blue version was pulled and repressed by the record label. the final version is perfection, not a skip or scratch...of course, i'm not sure if you're buying secondhand how you'd know what version you were getting. I didn't receive mine until mid-july 2018.

There's little to no surface noise on my LP, it's quite punchy, dynamic, the tracks breathe it seems.I have the standard version, I compared them... the difference is minimal: the deluxe version has more punch added to it also it is a bit clear in terms of master layering of the tracks which makes sibilance invalid on my LP.Though both LPs have a few pops on certain tracks.

Also would like to add that the packaging is super neat: the gatefold jacket is sturdy and well made, it has a clean matte (I guess) finish, whilst the booklet and the photo inserts are phenomenally packaged and look stunning.

tight and punchy bass, clear highs and no surface noise at all. no sibilance, even on the inner tracks that feature heavy vocals and a lot of "S" sounds. 10/10, great mastering and pressing. super impressed. this is how pop vinyl should be done.

I bought the deluxe edition of Melodrama from SoundStageDirect.com and I am always satisfied with how they package the records. The sound on the vinyl was massive and very clean. The packaging is really nice with the 6 photographed inserts and the lyrics booklets. To others complaining about the sound, perhaps clean the vinyl with a record cleaning solution and a brush.

Why let something be mastered at Sterling by Ray Janos and then be pressed at GZ and make great music and good mastering sound like shit? My second copy was even worse than the first lots of residue with scratches all over it.

Same here - received my copy yesterday from Amazon. Theres a big, deep scratch all over Side A (looks like you've gone over the record with a knife) and a small scratch on Side B, also very dirty. I send it back to Amazon and hope the second copy is in much better shape. What a shame.

Bought my pressing today. The record itself looked really dirty, had a lot of noise, and skipped twice during "Green Light." Anybody else have this issue? I may just need to clean it, but the skips are making me think about returning it.

Clean the record with a record cleaning solution and use a brush to wipe it. This should be standard routine before playing any record.

Tyler Is Not Here

Same here....disappointing. Mastering seems alright but my pressing has some flaws.

I'm pretty impressed with this release. It's quite dynamic and punchy at times and there's little to no surface noise. You may need to turn up with the volume a bit but once you get the right level it sounds excellent. Overall very good release with great packaging. The artwork that comes with the deluxe is well worth it as well.

Thicker gatefold meant for 2xLP but it isn't that "thick." I was able to fit the jacket it in a protective sleeve for a single LP. The left side of the jacket contains the prints and the right side has the disc.
