Bizarre, experimental techno from Cristian Vogel, pressed on very fetching bright red vinyl. Way of the Wyrd and Sub Version constitute the heavy techno side of the EP with Wyrd providing a fantastic whooping bassline and great samples - "All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream..." Partials and Hearing Things Before They Happen represent the experimental side of Vogel's EP. Partials is very ambient, with an almost underwater, dreamy feel to it. But the real star of the show is Hearing Things. Truly brain-crunching stuff, starting with medicine man/shaman/aboriginal style rattles and drums and developing into a genuinely surreal, other-worldly sound with "This is the sound of the future" whispered over the top. This experimentation with sound was, and still is way out there, and the Infra EP still sounds as great as it did in 1994!

Yes, the B-side is the kinda stuff you'd hear passing thru the chill-out area of Turnmills at Inner Vision or Eurobeat nights ... at the time I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to them (bought for the A1 track with its flanged distortion and punchy stomping beat) but it's nice when tracks you wouldn't normally seek out specifically end up included on a EP of mixed styles and you can go back years later and 'rediscover'/appreciate them. Partials and Hearing Things especially, both fall into that catogory for me and yeah, now 20yrs on and it's still here and being rotated. My copy is without the barcode and has "for promo use only" printed under the spindle hole in the white strip (also has PR-M etched into run-outs both sides).
