When Keith Hopwood left Herman's Hermits in the autumn of 1972, John Gaughan was recruited on rhythm guitar/vocals. "You Gotta Love Me Baby" was intended to be released as a new Herman's Hermits single, but was eventually released under the billing of John Gaughan with The Hermits (stock copies). The Hermits were uncredited on promo copies.
