Scissor Sisters return with a new album but, this time, rather than embracing influences from the 70’s and 80’s, the band get contemporary.The album is still filled with classic Scissor Sisters tunes but modern arrangements take over. Fans of the older style will enjoy tracks like “Baby Come Home” and “San Luis Obispo” but those that don’t enjoy flashbacks to the 70s/80s, or maybe they just don’t get the references, should enjoy the more contemporary tracks like “Only The Horses”, “Shady Love”, “F*** Yeah”, and “The Secret Life Of Letters”.The brilliant “Somewhere” really shines, while the extra remixes are somewhat hit n’ miss. The strange “Let’s Have A Kiki” may have you scratching your head at first but becomes strangely addictive. Maybe it helps if you’ve gone clubbing in NY city? Or maybe it just makes you want to.
