Not only does this sound fantastic but it also has the best cover art for this album! I own a few different pressings and while a good clean copy of the 1st uk press is always most desirable, this press is no slouch and will be easier to find clean pressings of it due to its age, don’t sleep on this one.

I remember seeing an early copy with two oval white stickers saying "I am an angel's egg. Peel me off." concealing the illustrations of the female genitalia.

Can anyone comment on the quality of this reissue? Is this analog, or digitally sourced? Thoughts?

I've already listened the whole trilogy in sequence with different releases. An UK original Flying Teapot, this reissue of Angels Egg and a Charly reissue of You. It sounds very good and similar to the UK release, and so much better than the Charly ones. The pressing of this reissue has the clarity of the original copies, well defined lows and do not have those annoying high digital frequencies, so I assume that it was a very well done digital remaster from the original tapes - since it's also an official Virgin release.The con: it isn't gatefold, and I sometimes miss the inner artwork.

Part 2 of the classic trilogy.Steve Hillage really begins to showcase his talents here, with passages that would eventually mature into his full solo works such as Rainbow Dome Musick.Of course we also get the sensual & beautiful space whispers of Gilli Smyth, which as always comfort the listener like a strange blanket of seduction & uncertainty.This really isn't music you can put into words, though.It's difficult at times, it's encompassing at others. Sometimes at the same time.Lie back, spark up, let go.Enjoy.

I own the "colour" Virgin label of this (as pictured), but I believe it is the second variation. The first Virgin label is black & white, and a pressing of Angel's Egg does exist on that earlier label. Both pressings are 1973.

Red/Green label pressings are LATE 70s, by which time there had been 3 other label variations.

My copy has a 16-page black & white booklet, which concerns all 3 parts of the trilogy.

I realise this has taken some time for a reply but here goes.I was starting to think i had dreamed the enclosed booklet as it never seems to be included anywhere,i had this album from new must have been the start of the virgin empire that began an interest in Gong and other "way out there"bands at the time.faust started it off with the 49p tapes and i can remember Gong playing in the car park at the back of virgin records in Sheffield.Anyway i had angels egg and the booklet but it got all but destroyed along with a small collection of robert crumb comics in a shed we used to use as a gang meeting place .thanks for the memory conformation .
