Three albums in, and Dante Carfagna delivered his masterpiece. His first record was a pleasant piece of instrumental beat making, very laid back and with a calming sense of rural nostalgia. His second album further built upon this feeling of bucolic peacefulness, while carefully reducing the beat elements. Now, with "Fixed Rope" everything comes together: The longing americana, that has always been buried in his music. The aura of solitude and contentment. The feeling of acceptance and closure. It's music for quite introspection, only consisting of a few elements: the sound of a reverberant guitar, heavily muffled lo-fi beats and some carefully interwoven synth-textures. But the emerging melodies directly go into your heart. They are so fragile and have such truth and honesty, they wipe away any cynicism or anger. What remains is a calm and peaceful clarity of mind, something I have only experienced with very few albums. May be "Luminarium" by Tape comes close, which has a similar air of quite melancholia. I don't know. In the end, it's incomparable. And just utterly beautiful.
