From looking at the cover on Bonkers vol.6, you're probably asking yourself, "Where are Hixxy and Sharkey?" Well, they are gone for this volume, so you get three cds of Happy Hardcore, no Trancecore. Many call 1999 the "death year" for Happy Hardcore, and given the track selection in Dougal's mix, along with Bonkers vol.7, you can start to see why. DJ Dougal's Mix: I've tried time and time again to fall in love with this mix, but it's just not happening. The mix has a great opening tune (on the cd it's called "Captured", on the vinyl release it's called "Shelter From A Dream"), but since Dougal has continued on with his particular music production from Bonkers 5, to me, the mix loses its energy quickly. There are, however; some great stompers in this mix: "Holding On(Vinylgroover Remix)", "Eye Opener (Remix)", "See My Climb", and "Space Invader(Scott Brown Remix)". This is still the slowest mix in the bundle. DJ Sy's mix: So, Bonkers finally gets a debut mix from the scratch master, DJ Sy. This mix is diverse in the lable selection, so you get a lot of different sounds within this mix. DJ Sy is called the scratch master for a reason, and you'll find out why in this mix. This mix contains a lot of remixes of past Happy Hardcore tracks, and also includes the anthem "Flower Needs The Rain". Overall, this is a nice jolly, boncey mix. DJ Vibe's Mix: This is the only Bonkers that features a mix from Vibes. I regard Vibes as a top DJ & producer in the Happy Hardcore genre because he always mixes his sets at a high tempo, and always chooses the cheesiest songs. His mixing can be a bit splotchy in spots, but again, that at least lets you know a human is actually mixing, not a computer. Some anthems on this mix include: "The Rave Theme", "Look At The Stars", "This Is The Night", and "Techno Wonderland(Stompy's Bonkers Remix)". This mix also contains A LOT of crunchy pianos rushing over the beats, so keep that in mind, and has a more raw edge to it than the other 2 mixes in this volume. You can also pick up Anabolic Frolic's "Happy2bHardcore Ch. 4" as it contains some of the anthems of 1999 that were not featured on Bonkers 6 or 7.
