I don't know weather mine is one of the 26, but the story i've heard is that a second pressing was made by Clive Chin in 1978 using the original stamper. Once Clive Chin said 150 – 200 were made, at another time he said 250 were pressed – I was told, all with the same skip near the end of the song as the original vinyl source as the stamper had a damage. My copy has no such defect and play through without and skip. Even so if it's one of the 250 batch, that still makes it a very rare single.Blank, Original, 1968 Selassie Is The Chapel (no credit) (Matrix: DYNA VR 238) / A Little Prayer (no credit) (Matrix: DYNA VR 249) The tracks were recorded June 8th 1968 and privately pressed soon after in a limited quantity of 26 with 12 sent to Haile Selassie as a gift. Of the 14 others one seems to be in the hands of RS, JC, GD, ND has two, maybe BB, SB, LP, TW, IM own one, one or more I would try to locate in Japan...

PJ has one as well. Lowell I believe has a copy with no skip. This is a story that is pretty new to me though. I was always told that the 26 was a bit ambiguous from the beginning.

ULTRA rare release from the Wailers. Side A "Selassie is the Chapel" displays The Wailers growing faith in Rastafari. Only twenty-six copies of the single were pressed. One of Bob's closest friends Alan "Skill" Cole took a majority of the 26 copies to Ethiopia! Side B is "The Lord Will Make A Way Somehow" is a song of hope; it is heavily influenced by 1950’s and 1960’s Motown recordings. This release is possibly a "Wail N Soul M" label blank pre release making it even rarer! has "TAPE MASTER" etched in the dead wax.

Nothing rare about this single, it is a very bad bootleg with the wrong B -side. The original of Selassie is the Chapel has a matrix of DYNA VR 238DYNA VR 239 with the B side being A Little Prayer by Mortimer Planno. First press of 26 copies and then Clive Chin pressed up another 250 in the 70's. Any copies of Selassie Is The Chapel with the square stamp on the label as shown in the picture above are bootlegs from Europe and can be purchased for about 7.00 each.
