Magnificently moody and mellow, Burial new EP is incredible, drowning in emotion and reverb he has shown he can adapt upon his at times tiring formula to better even more powerful places. Close your eyes, stick on some headphones and prepared to be taken somewhere amazing.Although the EP only containing three tracks, the run time clocks in at thirty minutes and all the tracks transform and progress so that you aren’t disappointed. To sustain a track over three or four minutes with the same emotional intensity is a difficult task but to do it for eleven minutes like on the title track Kindred, it is nothing short of spectacular. Instantly recognisable as a Burial track by the beat this track the heavier bass sounds add to the intensity of the track emphasised by the beautiful vocal, seeping in Burial touches. Just weeping in sorrow and quite angst Kindred really is brilliant.The second track, Loner, changes up the beat and there is defiantly a strong house influence coming through here. Unlike previous explorations into this more conventional beat, Burial really gets it right here. A superlative sucker it really demonstrates Burials range as a producer. The first half of the last track, Astray Wasp which is another eleven minute whopper, feels weak in comparison with the rest of the EP though. The house influence continues but it fails to take off like on Loner. That is until halfway through that is when the first half decays into fuzz to then rise again in a new form, the descending tinkling and mesmerizing vocal sample leave one in a state of awe. The thirty minute fly past and just leave you wanting to listen to it again.The crackling and buzzing old record player like filter layered over the top that just accentuates the atmosphere Burial has masterfully created. His secrecy and masked character only adds to the strength of the music, all the communication is coming from directly from the haunting music. I overuse the word transporting, but this EP really is. This deserves to be listened to in a with eyes closed with no distraction. I've found a slight mispress on A1, but sort and did the same as Pediluvio666 and tried it on two different records. I'm in North America, so maybe there is a difference..These tracks are amazing regardless of any slight defect.

Hooohhh, what a colossus!!!!I didn´t expect such a great development in the work of Burial. There are the classsicical elements of the old works and fantastic dark drones with hypnotical loops. Really scary. I hope there will be more in the following months. +++++

i played 3 different copies of this record..they all have a little mispress on track B1...anyone found the same error?

It looks like a cluster of very small "silver-ish" scratches in the vinyl about 7:20 in. Barley visible. Makes a few annoying pop noises right at the end of the quiet part.I have heard the digital version & these pops are not present there.Just want to know if I got a bad copy or if they are all pressed like this.

My copy has some pops on a quiet part of Ashtray Wasp, about 7 or 8 min in. Loner sounds fine to me.Does your copy have the same pops on B2?

Could you be more specific? I've listened to mine twice with around 2 grams of weight on the stylus and I don't hear anything problematic...

Nice to see Burial & Hyperdub back on form after all the shenanigans with that last Vinyl Factory rip off with Massive Attack. An easily available, realistically priced 12" EP. Thanks for treating the fans with some respect - big up! These tracks are beautiful as usual, & yes, I did notice the Elephant Stone sample in Ashtray Wasp. It sounds great!10/10

To the people with this in their "want this" list, you do know this EP is only £2.50 to download from the Hyperdub website? That's half an hour of genius from one of the hottest producers on the planet for less than the price of a pint. Go on, treat yourself ;0)

@Pistachios I don't. A pint in my local costs £3.50. I wrote, "this EP is only £2.50....less than the price of a pint". And I will be buying the vinyl too; I'll put it in my wants once it's listed on Discogs. Cheers :0)

For a lot of people discogs is still about the black round shiny discs. Glad that you get your pints for £2.50 though.
