An excellent compilation of post-Electroclash weirdness from France.You get full-on floorfillers, off-centre insanity, and a fair smattering of "famous" names.Of course, the most famous is the vocal talent of Brigitte Fontaine, employed here on the spacey "Fine Mouche". But you also get contributions from the likes of Stereolab, French synth-pop legend Jacno (the gorgeous Elli Medeiros is also present in a separate song), trilingual purveyors of leftfield pop Stereo Total, some work from the members of America's Chicks On Speed and for me personally it's great to see Frederik Schikowski (though he's about as French as Volkswagen).Even putting the "names" aside, the material from the artists you're like "eh, who" is equally good.Check out the frankly insane Russki Beat, the heavy Suicide tendencies of Caligula Rock, the AIR-On-A-Bad-Trip vibe of Plasmocytes Corallins, the irresistible Groovy (WHAT a bassline).The compilation ends with "We're Having Some Good Time", by Anat Ben-David.A perfect way to end the CD, as you'll have had such a good time that you'll want to listen to it all over again.OH HAI DOUBLE LP VINYL REISSUE OK THX BYE
