Hypnose is a monster of a track...miles away from the dreamy balearic A side it's a 15 minute dark masterpiece that could easily played even at a modern techno set. Still gives me goosebumps the moment Digweed dropped it in full effect at Bedrock's anniversary gig.
To me this record marks the change of Hard Trance into Progressive Trance.
This track still sounds so fresh today...pure class. Loads of good remixes but just love that original.
I love what Kai Tracid did to this track - which is, just enough. Gave it his touch without messing too much with the original's feel: Updated beat with more oomph, plus a touch of acid tweaking, while keeping the distinctive hook (at eighth notes instead of sixteenth notes for the heck of it :) and breakdown.
Love Me
BBE is the commercial act by Emmanuel Top, "seven days and one week" is okay, but too commercial in my opinion. "Hypnose" is is the correct one - deep trance and ya, a hypnotical beat. ;)
the heads dig hypnose. heads down. vortex.
If you want dark side of Seven Days And One Week, just check earlier superb work from "Emmanuel Top ‎– Fusion" you'll be delighted.
Seven Days and One Week is one of the BEST progressive tracks EVER!!! Future Breeze's remix is amazing and Matt Cassar's follows closely
Future Breeze never remixed this.
For me this is one of the tracks which defines a point where techno/trance left the pure experimental early stages and matures into a more solid structure. Those times will never exist again and tunes like this will never be written in the same way. Outstandingly beautiful and memorable track!
5/5 for only one reason...the original. I am mostly a techno and tech-house dj...this fits in any set and always does damage...I can't even begin to use words for a description. Either you get it, or you don't. (my only complaint in 2012 is that it is a bit too fast...but, whatever!)
i don't care about the countless remixes, the Original Club Mix from '96 is untouchable... so simple and so effective... all time trance classic...
You're absolutely right- the original is untouchable- this is a real trance classic!
I'm not really into trance but this 12" is remarkable. The a side "Seven Days And One Week" is pure genius, with its spaced out melody & flooty feel to it. I used to listen to it after a rave to chill out to while having a smoke. The beats are smooth & chilled, why can't all trance be like this hay :o)
'Seven Days And One Week' was released about the same time that 'Children' by Robert Miles gained success on Deconstruction. Together these two tracks heralded the arrival of trance into the mainstream. Out of the two, this track with it's plucked chords has in the long term proved to be the more influential of the pair. The fact that both tracks are such fantastic records should come as no surprise when you consider the personnel involved. Bruno Sanchioni was partly responsible for the classic 'The Age Of Love' by Age Of Love, and Emmanuel Top is hugely respected amongst his peers. Years on, it is amazing to think that such a trancey and seemingly sparse piece of music as 'Seven Days And One Week' could be such a huge hit.
Everybody knows the main track "Seven days and one week", another "Trance Classic" from Emmanuel Top, but listen carefully the b-Side "Hypnose", a powerfull hypnotic trance track, a track with a very slow progessive melody, as good as the A-Side !
