Somehow, many orthodoxies of deep house were turned on their heads with this fine release. And even veteran listeners, staled by familiar sounds, should be grinning widely as the hissing and crackling during the open seconds of the sultry, fittingly named "Bamboo Mat" play out. What makes this one so special, and indeed one of my tops for 2011, is its masterful balance between the dissonant bass hits and the beautiful harmonics of the ambient sounds coming from flutes, distant sounds of people laughing and talking in merriment, and progression of organic sounding percussion that are delivered with unexpected timing. The tone is quite relaxing, and yet, you are at the same time seduced by the agreeably strong grooves that are as unpretentious as they are original."Sparkling Eyes" I can only say is a charming compliment to "Bamboo Mat." Let feelings of wanderlust spread through your body as nuanced bass drum sequences, sharp and bright percussion, and deep, lush chords build tension by establishing a pleasing progression of melodies. More staccato and techy than the hazy and dulcet A-Side, the gravity of "Sparkling Eyes" pulls you towards its darker, galactic stabs. If "Bamboo Mat" is the grounded, tribal-influenced sounds of mingling races, "Sparkling Eyes" is this very world from the perspective of a listener who is sent out of orbit and looking below. This one has a slight melancholy tinge, laced by several layers of pads; and is a nice alternative to drier sounding releases, but would certainly fit snugly in the midst of peak-time music.More of this, please.

Mojuba and space met and had a baby. It was called Bamboo Mat. Nothing new and even reminds me of Dessous deeper releases like M Rahn or Raum label music. But still feels right and makes you want to dance all night long. Yes indeed, where are the ladies on the dance floor?

Pronounce's first vinyl release. The green and black marbled vinyl turned out beautifully as did the labels and the clear protective outersleeve. No pits, no divots, no pops or crackles in my copy. The sound quality is great. The A-side Bamboo Mat is a spring time love affair of deep house meets the tribal dub space echoes. The B-side a bit more techy but still on the same epic swanky tip. The drum programming for both tracks is sparse and yet effective. The basslines groove. This record could have been produced in 2001 or 2011 as the listener will likely not hear any sounds that give away a certain sound kit was used to build it. Both songs are approx 7 to 8 minutes long I estimate. DJ's who play like Danny Howells and who like to open low and slow might enjoy this release in the early portions of their set. Let the ladies sip their drinks and set the dancefloor to the "sway" setting while you shake hands, meet, and greet all of the familiar faces you havent seen out for awhile. Make eye contact with those sexy brown eyes that have been watching you warm up all night from across the dancefloor. The music on this release, and this goes for both sides, is pure, sweet, affectionate, comfy, warm, fire-side inspired brilliance :)

I agree, just picked this one up the other day.
