Just wanna say here that this album is real fucking good! I've only heard one other Takahashi solo album, Once a Fool, which is mostly just alright, but I can not stop listening to this one! The opening title track is a startling experimental piece with pouncing drums and screeching synths which flows seamlessly into the album's biggest highlight, the tentative dance funk "Stranger Things Have Happened", which features the other YMO boys along with several other musicians. Real dense music with a tinge of melancholy throughout. The cover of Neil Young's "Helpless" with Bill Nelson might make you cry.Side 2 is a bit weaker, but finale "Walking to the Beat" is a perfect last hurrah for this record. The kick and bass are rapid and drilling, the strings are sweet and swelling. Of all the members of YMO, Takahashi is the one who gets the least amount of his due respect, and this record shows exactly how much is due.
