A classic album !My first taste of the talented Mr. Dangers and still a fresh reminder what good music is all about. Breaking the mould and re-invent.

A very experimental lp that makes more sense to me now , than it did back when it was released.Back in 1990 record shops would not have been able pigeon hole this style .But now it would fit snuggly into experimental, techno, hip hop, breaks, rap, noise, breakcore, funk, industrial.I first heard them on a video called acid baron show ,and thought back then this group is different. Its took me this long to get round to buy some more of this stuff, and it sounds fresher than ever

So way ahead of anything else for years. This (as are all Meat Beat releases) really is something bigger darker and funkier than the rest. Think Prince crossed with with Aphex and Mad Professor. This LP never fails to excite me even after its been in existence since 89. How many other LP's that came out that year can i say that about! Hmmm. A true masterpiece of electronic music and a must for anybody searching out the roots of hardcore techno. Meat Beat after all did get branded as the inventors of breakbeat which says enough really.
Arcanefist
We were all completely overboard on industrial music, when along comes these creatures with three foot spikes, deeply warped beats, volume and intensity that could only be matched by Big Black or Pussy Galore (via Right Now). A complete classic that to this day can still wipe most records that have come up as a result of it off the map. It's still louder, noisier and more annoying than any of that big beat crap that took the templates provided over these four sides.
Funky
A truly amazing album, one that MBM founder Jack Dangers says is directly influenced by dub reggae producers. After the fire that destroyed what was to be the album, they went in and remixed and dubbed out some of their previous singles. And using the term remix is not doing the tracks justice. Jack takes each of the tracks and pulls and bends and mutates them into 15 separate sounding pieces. It's quite amazing and is directly or indirectly the inspiration behind 100,000 downtempo/proto hip-hip/breakbeat records out there.

MBM had completed (or near enough) a first album over several weeks when the studio containing the master tapes burned down. The band then recorded a new album in just a few days - hence, storm the studio...
