In the Long Way Home, Michael Apted, director of Sting's "Bring On The Night," takes you behind the scenes of one man's odyssey from East to West and back again, filming live concert and studio footage of Boris Grebenshikov and his Russian band Aquarium with guest appearances by Dave Stewart, Annie Lennox, Chrissie Hynde and Bananarama's Siobhan Stewart. The Long Way Home is a musical voyage filmed in Leningrad, New York, London, Montreal and Los Angeles.
For Boris Grebenshikov, maing music is more than a career -- it is life itself -- a constant struggle to make himself heard in spite of Russian censorship.
With the coming of glasnost, Grebenshikov finds himself free to travel to New York to record his first album with Columbia Records. Meanwhile, in Russia, Grebenshikov's fans and bandmates are filledwith doubt. Has he sold out to the West and deserted them?
