Notes

Comes with "free issue" of Murder Ballads Bulletin: A large folded colour printed lyric inlet.

Recorded in 1993-95 at Atlantis, Sing Sing and Metropolis Studios, Melbourne, Wessex Studios, London and mixed at Metropolis. "Where The Wild Roses Grow" was mixed at Sarm West, London.

The back cover lists the tracks incorrectly in the playing order of the UK vinyl. Actually, this German vinyl plays in the same track order as on the CD versions and the labels list this correctly even though "The Kindness Of Strangers" is misspelled as "The Company Of Strangers".

Sounds like shit. Avoid it.

Side A on my copy is recorded in Mono, Side B is recorded in Stereo :D
Thozius
Agreed. Unofficial releases never again!

I'd love to be wrong, but I don't believe this can be an official issue. Take a look at the sales history - multiple people were selling sealed copies as recently as this year, even though an official release is nearly two decades old. My guess is both the UK and German editions were bootlegged around the same time. Otherwise, as you say, these prices are totally inexplicable. You say you've got a copy - please can you tell us how new it looks? What kind of quality is the sleeve printing, cover stock and sound reproduction? Could it conceivably be 18 years old?

I don't know why this one is cheaper, it seems identical to this release http://www.discogs.com/Nick-Cave-And-The-Bad-Seeds-Murder-Ballads/release/1640649 but with out the 20 page Murder Ballads Bulletin insert. For the price, this seems like a total bargain at about 1/4 the price. It is not the counterfeit version either as it has a totally different matrix number. Mine has a sticker on the cover saying something about "the Wild Roses Grow with KM etc etc." So looks like a legit release but at a bootleg price. It's a sh@t album any way :) compared to all his previous material.

Why is this version so much less than other official LPs of Murder Ballads?
Mr_NiCkNaMe
I think the tracklist on the back cover is different to the actual tracklist on the record (on my vinyl its like on the cd issues).
Fesho
Mine is like that as well
