So what people talk about when they think this remaster sounds bad is most likely the digital aspect. I myself was expecting this to be a great sounding issue but after listening I felt like it was missing something and still prefererad my older 70s issue. I thought it had a lot of detail with a clean press but for some reason sounded like a CD of sorts. Later I found out that these 2014 reissues are made from a digital source of the original tapes which I reason is why it sounded strange and not as engaging. Im not one to start digital vs analog wars, I think both can be great, but this time without even knowing it I could hear the difference. If you are looking for the best sounding new versions of these albums I hear that the Classic Records releases are a good choice. They are very expensive but are made by people who really care and only do analog pressings. I myself am getting one and doing a blind test to see which I think sounds best between the 70s issue, 2014 remaster and 2007 Classic Records version. In the end its a good record and if you dont mind that much its just a great deal, but personally I would go for older 70s reissues that are in NM condition over this. Two copies of this pressing and the second side was completely unplayable on both. Both bought from amazon. Going to go find a different pressing. Can't get through misty mountain hop without at least 20 skips. Cleaning doesn't help.

DamageINC78 I got my copy from Amazon today and it plays through without issue. Very quiet and sounds good. I suspect turntable over LP. I can say that playing my LPs on improperly setup and/or poor quality tables results in the 20 skips thing on various LPs. On my properly setup U-Turn (entry level) table none of my records skip. I would check every aspect of turntable setup and make sure the stylus is clean. They all probably have budget tables or cant set them up properly. Mine plays fine.

Barnes and Nobles is a book store and Amazon is a Department Store. Buy your vinyl from local, independent record stores. You might spend an extra $1-2 but you don't need to deal with that.

Same here got mine from barnes and noble today and misty mountain hop and and four sticks skip big time if you want a good playable version of this dont buy this pressing

Good pressing. I can't tell you the exact differences between the remaster and the original but it still has all the same tape flaws (really evident in parts of Stairway and Levee). It's probably better than your 1970's version you stole from your parents or found secondhand. And it's pretty cheap, about $20 on average. I find my copy for about $25 at Barnes and Noble. Recommended if you want a decent and new pressing of this LP.
