Just bought this (via discogs for $60 offer on a $90-100 listing) and it looks brand new; doesn't look played. Sounds pretty damn good.

Andrew W.K.'s debut album, 'I Get Wet', is like a massive, testosterone-induced adrenaline shot. It's over the top, overproduced, and overly repetitive, yet, it has a strange charm that makes it overly infectious. Featuring twelve anthems that measure in at just 35 minutes, it's clear that this isn't sophisticated music for the music snob to analyze. It's dumb and loud and with almost every song making lyrical references to partying, "getting ready" (to party, I assume), or dying (from partying too much?), this is for the fun-loving madman who just wants to rock out.It's cleverly overproduced to give the album a very loud sound, like an army of guitars playing in unison. However, all jokes aside about the brainlessness of this release, it does get very repetitive very quickly. Any song by itself works well, and in fact, hit single 'Party Hard' is bloody amazing! But listening to 'I Get Wet' from start to finish does get a bit dull, especially when so many of the songs sound the same, or incorporate the same lyrical themes, melodies or tricks (the single piano note over the bass drum break happens in three different songs). Certainly not an album to scrutinize if you're looking for something intelligent, with songs like 'Girls Own Love', 'Ready to Die', 'She is Beautiful', 'Party Til You Puke', and the aforementioned 'Party Hard', and lyrics such as "I love New York City, oh yeah, New York City", this is dumb, mindless fun at it's very best.

Regardless of how reviled Andrew W. K. is by so many people (especially metal heads) this release has to be one the most energetic things ever. Step aside all ye purists and behold - an album that unashamedly boasts every track at under four minutes; a fast sound that is indescribeably catchy - it hooks you in one go; and brilliantly simple but massive sounding choruses. In a way it's quite cheesy. It doesn't for one second attempt to be even half serious and the lyrics are an incessant theme of pure hedonism ("Party Till you Puke"... "It's Time To Party"... "Got To Do It" - and possibly some thinly veiled Fascist ideology in "Ready To Die"...). As with some of the greatest speeches, brilliance doesn't always have to equal complexity. This is a very uncomplex and in your face release which, for what it happens to be, is absolutely brilliant in its incredible simplicity.
