Mr.Savik
I remember when this album was released in 2001 (the same year I actually met Adam). Lots of people were raving about it. At the time, I only really had a chance to hear the Fonda Rae collaboration, "Alternations". I liked it (still do), but thought the bassline could have varied a bit, as it is the same sequence for entire duration of the song. When I finally got a copy of the full album a few years back, I was excited to listen to it, seeing as how it's held in such high regard, but alas, it just doesn't resonate with me.To my ears, many of the tracks don't seem fully developed, especially musically. They sort of just meander in and out, without really pulling me in. No standout melodies or chord progressions, or other interesting elements...at least not to me.Sorry...I really wanted to like this one, but it just ain't doing it for me.

Adam Goldstone's only full-length, _Lower East Side Stories_, is his paean to the cultural and musical diversity of New York. From the upbeat soul-house of "In the Garden" to the Latin-inflections of "Mi Querida Loisaida," he captures the city's heritage and fascinating rhythms. "Jacktalk" features some ponderous Socialist discussion that you can imagine taking place in a subversive cafe somewhere, while "N Y C Dub" goes for deep and reverberating. But Goldstone seems at most ease when he's in full-on house mode, whether with the shiny tech-sheen of "Possible Worlds" or the spaciousness of "Stardance." It's a terrible loss that Mr. Goldstone never had a chance to tell some more stories.
