Dogrel
One of those little-known gems of US progressive rock. These came to our attention via a recommendation by Djam Karet's Chuck Oken Jr. Best to forget the religious concept, as the album's instrumental, with symphonic and fusion edges and lots of great flute. Kind of Camel like, and even some hints of Focus, but different. A great album.from my review in Audion magazine #23 (Nov.1992)...ATAVISM OF TWILIGHT - ATAVISM OF TWILIGHT (AP 1) MC 41mIf you look back at Audion #22 you'll find a concert review where this enterprising band are the support for Djam Karet. For me that was enough reason to check them out, 'doomy prog rock' with flute - sounds my sort of thing. Although I must say that the music on this tape is nothing like what I expected. There's just four tracks, each a fiery amalgam of Italian rock styles with heavy doses of King Crimson and Mahavishnu Orchestra, and much flute of the Camel and Solaris kind, not really doomy at all, in fact far too energetic and furious to be anything but ecstatic. But there again I'd expect nothing less from a band highly recommended by Djam Karet. Incredible!
