Nighttown Is my favourite release by this great Seattle band. The title does echo the dark fragile surrondings of a noir-ish city. It moves slow, but very balanced.

Productivity is The Walkabouts never failed. Nighttown is the successor of the early ' 97 released album Death Valley Days, a collection of obscure recordings and rarities. For this new cd they have this time not be inspired by life in the countryside. New inspiration was found in living in the overcrowded cities of America. New are also the strings in many of the songs that as always of high quality. Carla Torgerson took again most vocals. Her unemotional voice is as always atmosphere determines the often mysterious-sounding music of The Walkabouts. Highlights include the with husband Chris Eckman Sung Tremble (Goes The Night), Lift Your Burdens Up and Nightbirds.
