With a name perfectly suited for an Internet comments section, Mwahaha's eponymous debut whistles into a warm electronic-rock hybrid with a sweet harmonic vocal layering on "Swimmer," while "Rainbow Diamond" gets much more straightforward with its momentum. "Poinsettia" has a dull throb to it. Tune-Yards contributes her vocals to "Love," though her African-flavored pop is nowhere to be seen, given over instead to a lingering airiness on "Lime Tree." An touch of psychedelia dances onto "We Build," but it's the building dirge of "Rivers And Their Teeth" and cleaner sound of "Sleep Deep" that carry more weight. The untitled & unlisted final two tracks gives themselves over to pure electronics, first in the form of house, and second into a hazy ambient dub. This album is nothing to laugh at.
