I'm very surprised of this release, according to synctank's comments. I want only bring in evidence the beatiful ending track from XYN with pumping breakcore and distinguible melody.. Dryft always surprise us with is incredible tracks...a must have for Gridlock fans.

v/a: Integral Components [Component] From the newborn label Component comes its first compilation after a couple decidedly unfortunate Industrial releases by XYN and Codec. Because of the aforementioned “flops”, I picked up this compilation based solely on its agreeable line-up, which consists of many exclusive tracks from some of my favorite IDM and Industrial acts. This compilation actually presents some rather excellent music from Lusine icl, Dryft, ML, Proem, Syndrone, Neutral, and Octopus Inc., as well as promising material from Andrew Duke, Phluidbox, Neutronic, Pandorabox, Somantic Responses, and of course XYN and Codec. Not every track here is a gem, but there is enough potentially seductive material to warrant the purchase of this CD. Stand-out tracks include Dryft’s ‘Caloc Pt. 1’ and Proem’s ‘Blue Northern’, which, after several listens, I am convinced that the tracklistings for these two songs were incorrectly listed. The Dryft track sounds like Proem and vice versa, but this is just my personal theory – I may never know the truth about this one. Because of this, I can’t really comment on these two tracks except to say that they are both quite lovely. Lusine icl lends a brilliant song to this release titled ‘Spacecake’, which contains a floating, “housey” feel emphasized by tight, danceable beats, skillful pattern maneuvering, and building structures of sensual melody and aural fuzz. Very nicely done, Jeff. ML emerges from the shadows once again, offering a prelude of sorts to their upcoming release on the n5md label. ‘Tiny Ninjas’ delivers a constant line of popping percussion with a minimal synth pattern, fluctuating melodies and twanging blips and bleeps. Syndrone, aka Machine Drum, puts in with ‘Airport 2’, following along with his ‘Triskaideka’ material but demonstrating more diversity by programming timely pattern and tempo changes in addition to laying down his usual broken, glitchy beats on top of a beautiful melody and static-laced clamor. Neutral again blurs their genre placement, this time hitting us with the industrial-tinged track ‘line’. This song gradually develops into a powerful technoid thumper offering layers of dark synthlines, wispery female vocals, cringing moments of controlled noise, and increasing intensity until the track concludes with an abrupt sigh. While I really wasn’t expecting much from this release, ‘Integral Components’ turned out to be a surprisingly good collection of songs by some of the best electronic composers around. I can only hope that Component continues on this path with future releases.
