Auau
If I had to chose a favorite between "Lost Recordings #8: Transcendence", "Lost Recordings #9: Atonement EP" and "Lost Recordings #10: Sukr EP", I would stick with this one. Well, technically they all revolve around the same ideas, but this one develops them better and has a grittier, unpolished finish that I don't even understand how he's pulled it off.The A1 track is basically the bass line and the kick drum manifesting itself as a thick molasses of impenetrable sound. Or, if the two can be distinguished, I am not quite on the level - yet. There are moments when out of sync keys are seemingly randomly dropped, along with the trademark hi-hat precipitation. However, this piece of work is so compressed, so compact, that I see no way of this being dropped in any kind of a mix without cluttering the entire session. It's like living inside a giganic soap bar with a task of making it out.Moving on to B1. This a four minute barrage. An all out sonic assault with no introduction, no break and no punches being held back. Everything in the book coming at you from zero until the four minute mark. Even the pace is obnoxious, keeping in mind the legacy of the Lost series. This is a multiple-vortex tornado where the subvortices are not clear to spot. Meaning, it floors at once, no questions asked and no answers given.B2 is then the oddest odd ball of them all. It revolves around a looped, melodic hook line. Yes, a melody. Mind you, we are not treading Vince Watson waters here, but given the previous tracks (and releases) approach, my face went into a sudden "WTF?" mode. A cool little, let's dub it calm for the sake of conversation, number, that looks like a Polly Pocket doll sorrounded by these insurmountable walls of sound.I also have trivia to share, and would like to receive feedback, if possible. If you own his "Modes Of Thought" record from 2016, listen carefully, and you will notice that Harmonious Balance is actually B1 from this record, and Messenger Molecules is A1 off of this one.Pay attention, and you will figure out that Steve took both of those tracks out, had their hair cut, nails done, shirts ironed out, new cotton socks, and turned them into pieces to be enjoyed by a whole new generation of fans. Please share your thoughts. It's like he tidied up the rough drafts of the nineties, and had them resuraface as deadly club utensils in the new milenium. Nice move!
