I bought this pretty much just for "Firelink Shrine" - such a great track

It looks like the sound engineer pushed down the volume fader at every tracks' end.Still an awesome composition, though (for a great game) and vinyls sounds great (some pop at the first beginning but this is not a big deal huh?)

GarionOrb I get a lot of pops, but only in between songs. During a song, it's perfectly quiet. Isn't that strange? No, you just dont hear the pops over the music if you dont play it loud enough or listen closely. Any soft music will surely have some crackling. But if you dont hear it now you might as well avoid trying.

What do you mean by EU release? This was all pressed in the EU but distributed from the US. Also I might have been wrong about the mastering being a program but either way it seems that Anders Person did or couldnt do a good job. He was possibly just given the CD to work from which limits you a lot. Anyway they should all be about the same.

leonthepro It mostly depends on what pressing plant and mastering engineers the distributers decide to use. Without an official statement on the vinyl all Im left to look at is the Matrix runout. From that I can pretty safely tell that it was pressed at GZ media, one of Europes biggest pressing companies and the mastering was done at GS mastering and post, a program that does remastering automatically from what I can tell. This is why its so poorly made, there is little care put in, the cheapest alternatives were used and they just ride on the name Dark Souls to sell. Do you happen to know how it compares to the European release, because I too noticed the mastering seemed off from the previously released versions on CD. Everything sort of sounds like they're on the same level? I dunno, I'm far from some kind of expert but it just doesn't sounds quite right...

Woof. That dead silence after the first track made me think the record skipped for a second.
