Excellent record from Gosub. Heartbreaker is top quality! Really good electro music.

The word "Sordon" was a wink to select people that are no longer. This music was composed during a transition from the north to the south.

In theory Electro should be an amazing genre - it reminds you of the wonder of playing early video games as a kid; it's ok to have melodies (unlike techno) while still having unusual sounds. But in practice only the various Drexciya affiliated project consistently reach that goal. This is one of the few records that I can say the same about. There are at least three extremely strong tracks on here: A1, A2 and B1. A3 is a hip-hop track I can do without and the rest are a little too simple. There are lots of Drexciyan touches on this record (to my ear): certain sounds, the way tracks progress. But there are also very romantic melodies that remind me of some of the best spacey video game music. There are plenty of those gorgeous pads that put one into a melancholy mood and that are electro's special strength. It's one of those records that stands outside the trends of the moment even though it's part of a tradition.Too bad I haven't heard anything else from Gosub that is quite as good. It's like he put his best stuff on one EP. I wonder about this Sordon guy too, the name appears on another EP. Is this an attempt to establish an inter-record mythology, kind of like what Drexciya did?
