I never liked this song and I never can comprehend why this very average song is desired.
It has been, and always will be, a nice slice of sonic goodness.
you can fuck right off mate i mean it truly
It's a great song IMO. Perhaps not your cup of tea.
MichaelOC I never liked this song and I never can comprehend why this very average song is desired. then you have never been truly high
For all you people buying reissues and complaining, i got some bad news for you. A reissue will never (and I mean NEVER) get the quality and pleasure of an original, just in case you haven't realize this on your own the past 20-30 years..
you dont know what your talking about. sometimes represses get better corresponding masters.
True, though the original pressing is quite rare and out of most people's budget. I like when labels reissue rarities and the sound quality is good enough. It's not fair that only the most serious of collectors willing to invest big money on rarities are the only ones able to enjoy good, obscure music while everyone on a smaller budget is left out in the cold.
you're totally right. who cares about music anyway? it's that gollum feeling ( "my treasure, i have something no one else has") that makes collecting records so much fun... next to that, paying the artist instead of second hand dealers is so 90s..
Thanks for the big tip! All this time I thought I'd been appreciating the hard work legitimate reissue labels put into sharing wonderful, and often criminally under-heard music with the world. I thought I'd been enjoying being able to afford to buy releases otherwise out of my budget, and I definitely thought I was getting pleasure out of knowing I was actually supporting deserving artists - but clearly I've been wrong all along. I feel like such a fool! Thanks to you I now know it's much better for less people to hear great music, for less people to be able to afford to buy records, and for artists who often never got the recognition they deserved in their time to stay unrecognised and not receive any financial reward for bringing joy to past and future generations of music lovers.
The only way the 12" version is getting re-released is if someone does a vinyl transfer from a mint copy. And you're more likely to be hit by a Soviet satellite than have that happen unfortunately!
what a disappointing only 3:07 min of goodbye horses instead of the long version ....(
A wasted opportunity as someone else pointed out.
quite the deceptive release, considering how they label the a-side the "original" version, while as everyone else has already pointed out, it is in fact the same severely edited version from the "married to the mob" soundtrack lp. really a complete and utter waste of time.
I too just got my copy of the reissue and although it's nice to have the track, it seems baffling that the version included is the shortest possible duration of less than even the 7" version, when the version most people really want is the extended 12" version. Also the cover of the track on the other side is just awful.
While I appreciate the very admirable attempts of this label to reissue a great record, the Q Lazzarus version is an edit that runs for 3 minutes and 7 seconds (3:07), as printed on the label. This is disappointing, and the track fades way too soon. We've essentially waited 25 years for an edited version that is one minute shorter than the 7" edit on the original 12", which runs at 4:20. According to the track durations on the original 12" release, the original version runs for 6 minutes and 28 seconds. What a shame.
