Lestony
+1 for the Morley remix, reminds me a bit of tangerine dream at their best, and that's a good thing. 10/10

Wow, almost 30 years later and this cut still rings true. Well made... ie. Golden.

Everyone goes straight for the Rhythm Masters mix which is great. But the Orbital mix is an absolute masterpiece! If he had of managed to slip the vocals in somewhere I'd never play another version of this track!!

The Rhythm Masters Melodic Mix from 1998 is the one here, though i do like pretty much all of the mixes. I do also have a love for the Commie Mix. The Rhythm Masters one stands out, as the weight of the bass is just overpowering. The beats really roll at an alarming rate too. It has a great groove to it (as did most Rhythm Masters remixes). Yes its a bit house-by numbers, but the riff works, the beats work, and the bass does. This track shows why, in the late 90's, the Rhythm Masters were THE remix production outfit. The Commie Mix is very 1999 Trance sounding - a good snapshot of the summer sound from 1999. Commie has copied the blueprint for the hard trance sound that was pioneered by Mauro Picotto at the time, its evident in the bass sound. It's got quite a mechanical feel, but the breakdown is just sublime, the main sample from the original just works with any style.

Don't sleep on David Morley's Apollo mix. Its a timeless piece of ambient. Orbital's mix isn't bad but its upbeat and the original song is not. Thus it throws off the key of the melodics to fit the beat. The original and Morley's mix is where it's at.
grand star
Shall you check Orbital's Frenetic 12'' Mix. First time I heard Kinetic was through its rework on Orbital's Frenetic 12'' Mix where you can actually hear extended vocals. I do miss the vocals when I hear the original Kinetic but the groove coming out of the tune makes it a true classic in its own essence.

'Kinetic' is not necessarily a record that is quite so well known by Orbital fans, yet it is one of the finest Paul Hartnoll compositions to date. It has a wonderfully idyllic glow to it that reassures the listener in even the most troubled times. This will put a smile on anybody’s face, any time in a manner similar to 'France' by THK. The Frank De Wulf remix is the standout mix here. It has a galloping groove, and glistens with optimism. It may well sound a little out of date, but this track is so famous that it doesn't matter.

12 years later, I don't think it sounds dated at all? Am i the only one?
