Even though Sun Electric, as a project, has long ended, it still lives on in my heart, and LOST + FOUND will keep that heart pumping for a little longer. As a collection of tracks created after VIA NOSTRA, it gives further indication of where Thiel and Loderbauer were going with their sound. That is: more and more towards dub. "Toninas" bobs along, pressed forward by a jazzy piano line, but you can definitely hear a ~scape vibe present. But "Lomat" brings the jazz back in full force, with a bassline that purposefully clashes with the melody, and "Sissy" turns the the word into a piece of percussion. "Shuttle" brings things back to a smoother keel, and "Echelon" veers into glitchy micro-downtempo. "Umpa Lumpa" returns us to some off-kilter jazz, and "Afterglow" lets the album waft out on a soft cloud of beatlessness. A fitting cap to a excellent career.
