viewFor those of you who still want to believe that this release on Al Santiagos Mañana label is/was the very 1st, please check out the REAL 1st Pressing of this release which was on Bobby Marins Salsa Records label which was also a subsidiary of his Mary Lou Records label. Al Santiago REPRESSED it on his Mañana records label and REMOVED all references to The Salsa/Mary Lou Records label. En otras palabras, this release, on Al Santiagos Mañana Records label is nothing more than a....REPRESS. Rare nonetheless, but a Repress all the same.

Dukie Gonzalez is my uncle! Pretty cool to find his group on here.

Alright guys, as the original person who entered this release into the database, I am going to correct it as I see fit with the information presented. I cannot take on the account of someone's memory to say this is a reissue when there are substantive evidence to suggest it was released in 1970. Randy, if you believe this is a reissue, please submit a different release. If you do not have a copy, I would ask that you leave it as is and not use your voting right to revert back. Respectfully.
Silvermaster
You asked if I believe this is a reissue, please submit a different release.... Done!

DJ. I never make any submissions, edits or comments on any release I do not own, or have had any personal affiliation with either the artist or musicians. This release, on the Mañana Label IS NOT the original 1st release. If you read what is included within that hyperlink which Latinfunk provided, you would've read: "Dukie Gonzalez , Louis Gonzalez, Orlando Puertas and Mario de Jesus were original from their "FIRST ALBUM." (which would imply, Salsa Records label) Al Santiago original owner of Alegre records "DECIDED" to invest in the Orchestra Capri. Under the label of Manana Records. " So you tell me, what do you think was the First Label for their First Album was? It certainly wasn't Mañana.

I believe this to be the original pressing... The catalogue numbers of the Salsa Records releases for Orchestra Capri 'En Fuego' SLP 1011 & (Orchestra Tentación) 'Nuestras Raices / Our Roots' SLP 1012 are not in line with ANY of the rest of the catalogue numbers of Salsa Records. The salsa records both have the red salsa logo (which I believe to be later... Brooklyn Sounds S/T LP has a second pressing with the red 'Salsa' logo. The jacket & vinyl do not seem to be made of 1970 / 1971 cardboard / vinyl whereas the Mañana releases looks the part to have been released in 1970... Al Santiago released just three LPs on Mañana records, all of which he produced. There are 7"s released from all the albums on Mañana. The vinyl of the Mañana release weighs 160g and the Salsa release just 119g. The Mañana label went backrupt in no time at all so surely it would make more sense for Salsa Records to have made the cheaper reissues (the cover is also heavier on the Mañana release...***CCNY Class of 1973 refers to the year of graduation, not the present year... Otherwise we could make the argument that this came out in 1955 "*CCNY Class of 1955". The words of Orlando Puertas' interview posted by motherssun leaves no doubt in my mind that this is the original pressing https://es.groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/herencialatina/conversations/messages/9940The catalogue numbers on both labels, the card used on both albums, the quality & thickness of each vinyl, the testimony of band member Orlando Puertas, various articles about Al Santiago starting Mañana records in 1970 (and the Capri album is the first LP to be released on Mañana Records), plus everything else I have read leads me to believe this to be the original pressing.

Believe what you will. But if you really read what is included within that hyperlink, you would've picked up on: "Dukie Gonzalez , Louis Gonzalez, Orlando Puertas and Mario de Jesus were original from their "FIRST ALBUM." Al Santiago original owner of Alegre records decided to invest in the Orchestra Capri. Under the label of Manana Records. " So you tell me, what do you think the First Label for thier First Album was? It certainly wasn't Mañana.

Here, can be found an interview from 2006 that group member Orlando Puertas have to a Yahoo group. He discussed the origin of the groups, as well as the order of the releases...https://es.groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/herencialatina/conversations/messages/9940
Mr_Jeйson
As for the mention of the year of graduation *year of ,,,,", it's possible that they were attending CCNY & those were the years that the members were scheduled to graduate.

For those of you who believe this to be their debut LP, I really hate to disappoint you, but it is not. Their actual debut LP was the 1970 release of: En Fuego/LPS-1011, which was released on Bobby Marin's Salsa Records label, a subsidiary of Mary Lou Records. Although both records contain the exact tracks, only 1 is the actual debut, and that is En Fuego. It would appear as though the Tipico Minus One would be their debut because it looks better and contains much info in the linear notes. But if you really read the linear notes, the proof I right there. I included a magnified portion of the back cover lower right where the years in which some musicians attended CCNY, and the last 1 reads: ***CCNY Class of 1973 . So if Tipico Minus One was released in 1970, the ***CCNY Class of 1973 should not be there. And just to make sure and substantiate what I said even further, I called the designer for the jacket cover for En Fuego who is Charlie Rosario, a friend of mine since 1969, he and his brother Yogi have their studio in Brooklyn, NY, and they've done a lot of the record jackets from the 70's that I'm sure many of you have. And yes, En Fuego was released in 1970 as their debut. But I wanted to follow-up further and went straight to Bobby Marin, and he also confirmed that En Fuego was Orchestra Capris debut LP released in 1970. Case closed!
Sorryyy
This is highly confusing. According to the Nov 21, 1970 of Billboard (you can find it in the Google Books Result by searching for "Orchestra Capri ‎– Tipico Minus One"), the LP is listed in the "Special Merit 4 Stars LP releases under "International" as being "Tipico Minus One" on the Manana label. This can be found on page 79, which makes this quite confusing, as Billboard received all of their information directly from the record companies. The question is, how can Manana LPS 501 be listed as a reissue, a 1973 reissue, at that, when it appeared in the Nov. 21, 1970 issue of Billboard as being released that year"Furthermore, page 59 of the Feb 6, 1971 issue of Billboard spoke of Al Santiago & his new Manana label, whose 1st release was "Tipico Minus One", directed by Felix Morales Jr.with vocals by Dukie Gonzalez. This seems to be in direct conflict with those crediting it as a 1973 reissue, as well as those who were intimately involved with the making of the LP, because according to Billboard, this "reissue" was actually released in 1970.Confusing, to say the least.
