in my opinion, Shep's best work was NOT in production, but in remixing. Specifically 1981-1984. By 1989-ish he was into "producing" highly generic pop/house such as this.The only good thing on this 12" is the pop club version. WE get to hear Phil's drumming in ALL IT'S GLORY.

Shep Pettibone doing techno? Hard to believe, but here it is. Though distinctively Pettibone, the "dub" stands on its own as a respectable instrumental, fitting in more with the sound of Technotronic than with the much less commercial ventures coming out of Detroit and the UK at the time. Phil's vocals just don't mesh well with this aesthetic in the A-side mix, though. The "pop club" version integrates them better, but it isn't clubby at all; it's more of regular extended version, which isn't really a good thing since this song is one of Collins' weakest. Still, the record is worth picking up for the dub.
