Notes

The compilation is digitally mixed, or put in another way; it's strongly segued, hence each side works as one long track.

Very Old Chap
I bought 2 of these LP Box sets. One is still sealed. Figured I'd buy them while still available back in 2002 as, they don't typically re-release these types of PF projects. The mixing and engineering of this compilation is outrageously good , on vinyl anyway. I have not heard the CD or cassette versions to comment on them. Dead quiet, ruler flat virgin 180 gram vinyl pressing times 4. I Don't mind that certain songs are overlooked or that they gently segue together. This particular digital remaster cut to vinyl by Sean Magee at Abbey Road is excellent, even though Bernie Grundman has his name in the deadwax as far as I remember. If the discovery box and later remasters are at least this good on vinyl, I need to buy every album again from first to last. I have good pressings of the individual albums, but most are US copies and there is room for improvement on all of them.

Hi, sorry for my English i'm french... I bougth the CD version in 2001, it is my first record i bought about them at the age of 18. I remember so good memories about listening this album, as you can tell the mix is awesome. I will be very happy to catch this 4 lp set but the CD version is very impressive too, because of : it's a CD, no side slidding, it's a one shoot. Til this day i collected many records and of course a couple of Floyds. The mastering is so strong so powerful, whatever you listening on CD or Vinyl. I luckily have the chance to cop 2 original dark side of the moon in very early UK press, with blue triangle, and i can't barely do a difference with a french press. I think your US press if it's original it's almost the same as the UK, it's just my opinion with my own hifi system but generally peoples agreed US pressing are very good quality

"Run Like Hell" gets passed over in favor of The Happiest Days Of Our Lives, Marooned, Keep Talking, Sorrow, The Fletcher Memorial Home, When The Tigers Broke Free, Learning To Fly, Jugband Blues and High Hopes. I wonder why, especially since Gilmour was very involved in the tracklisting.

There may have been some thought into the choice of songs, their editing, sequencing and running order but little attention was paid to the typography, which is shockingly bad.

It is the worst release ever!!! I really don`t understand why it was made? It is not Greatest Hits even. I love Pink Floyd, I`ve known all their albums, songs. Making any shorts (Echoes!!!), or mixing songs is really horribly on this release. I also don`t understand unchrononical manipulation. EMI please not doing more such "the best of..." with any others musicians, especially with Pink Floyd!!!
Nilabor
I think its funny that everything you say "please EMI don't do this" was the bands idea. In fact David Gilmour was responsible for the track list and preparing the edit and the mixing (with James guthrie).

I Think this is an Unofficial release, since echoes was only released on cd.Can anyone Confirm this?
Kajikus
nope-it is an official release. SHINE ON box was only released on cd-official ofc.
Ohatollia
It's an official limited release. The order of songs is slightly different from the CD. I think it was only published in Holland in 2002
Dagdardana
