CMCD (RéR Megacorp CMCD) CD 74mCuriously subtitled 'Six classic concrete, electroacoustic and electronic works: 1970-1990', I wonder about the motive of issuing this. Firstly, it doesn't actually make the vinyl issues of the music redundant, and also it isn't really a good consistent collection of the type(s) of music represented. As an introduction to such adventurous music it could well be a mind boggling eye opener to the uninitiated. Represented are: John Oswald (from RéR Quarterly Vol. 2 No. 1), George Katzer, Jaroslav Krcek (both from RR 22), Lutz Glandien (from RéR Quarterly Vol. 3 No. 2), Steve Moore (one side of his A QUIET GATHERING LP), and Richard Trythall (from a CRI label release). But for me it's an unnecessary release, much better would have been a proper CD issue of Steve Moore's classic LP, yet that now seems unlikely. review by Alan Freeman (Audion #22. July 1992)
