Just Heard a Rinse FM podcast where Grooverider explained that he was sent a demo of Ghost by Goldie but he didn't really like the mix that he was sent, so Goldie gave him a DAT tape which contained around 16 mixes on it and out of the mixes Grooverider deemed this one the best. Goldie was surprised that he chose this mix out of all of them and hence when realeased it was called 'Riders Ghost'

Ghosts Of My Life is one of my favs on this label. When it all comes together, its just sublime. The haunting vocals "Ghosts Of My Life / Everyday of My Life" are etched into my memory, along with those drums which have such a great groove and laziness to them. The bass is brooding and restrained at first, but it gradually increases with sinister dark tendrils creeping into your brain. This tune has a story to tell, a concept missing from many modern releases and what makes these old tunes stand out for me. Brilliant. VIP Drumz - features some blinding beat slicing and dicing, quality rolling vibes that will smash any dance floor to this day.

I can remember vip drumz being played by the top djs from early 1993, dont get why it came out in 96 , l loved the tune in 93 and I love now butin 96 it was a old tune thats why I never picked up then, I grab it now though

As DJMK1 has already stated, this release is something of a strange artifact. I first heard both of these tracks in a Grooverider set from a tape pack release back in mid-1993(!). They are indicative of the experimental and creative heights that some artists on the scene were reaching back then, and at such an early stage in their careers too. 'VIP Drumz' in particular was still being played out as late as 1995/1996 and i dare say it could still bring damage to the dance if it were played in a set today!...Both tracks were so ahead of the curve that it boggles the mind.

This is one case of a mispressed record when the mistake works in your favour! Well it did for me anyway. AA listed as 'Rider's Ghost' is in fact 'Ghosts of my life' as described in the listing above. 'Ghosts of my life' is an absolutely blinding slab of Reinforced Records hardcore madness. Check it out.

This record is essentially a re-release of a previous 12" called Un-Released Metal (MH-001)released in 1994, which kicked off the lable "Metal Headz" VIP Riders Ghost is a remix of Ghosts of my life that was on the Ghosts EP on Reinforced and VIP Drumz is a remix of Nasty Habits "Here coms the Drums" on the Nasty as i wanna be EP. The strange thing about this 12" is that VIP Drumz is about -6 in speed on the 94 release and VIP Riders Ghost is +6 in speed on the 94 release. very odd really!!

This is one of my favorite metalheadz releases, and definitely in my top 10 of all time. VIP Drumz has certain turntablist qualities, including lots of backspins and a snare beat that feels like its being beat juggled. Classic, classic track, mid-90's drum n bass at its finest!
