This is a great return to form for Marc Almond. A release that manages to be uplifting and entertaining but at the same time captures Marc Almond at his introspective best. Every song except for one is a cover version but Marc Almond embraces each and every song and makes it his own. Honestly speaking, I'm not so familiar with the originals so when I listen it's Marc singing his words, his songs, about his experiences. This release also sits very well with other people that wouldn't normally listen to Marc Almond. I played this a lot over the Christmas period when a variety of guests were present and I didn't recieve one negative comment or complaint. Just try playing "Torment And Toreros" in a similar situation for a comparison (perhaps an extreme example?). For me, at least ,this was a welcome change. For once I can share Marc Almond with the uninitiated but at the same time retain some secret pleasure for myself.
