Whitemaster
Another excellent release of Fax from master Tetsu. Drifting and enveloping, rather like his previous release 'Shades of Orion 2'; but this is a more hermetic affair, with ebbs and flows in the drones, somewhat similar to Eno's Ambient albums in his 1970's peak; and also (early on) on 'Mini Moon' even recalls the sublime trumpet work of Jon Hassell. No glitch here, thank Ba'al. Just Inoue doing what he always did so darned well- creating calm and drifting cumuli of sound that drifts across the listeners lugholes and becalms their brains.

For me this is the best CD on history in FAX label.Sadly, this is the last thing what Inoue make.Music on this album is similar to his first solo album Ambiant Otaku,so title of album is very good idea.A perfect sphere here, lot of lush, calm, beauty sound's.I wish that will day ever come,Tetsu come back.Dont wait buy this CD now.Highly recommended for every pure ambient lover.Everything what Inoue touch,he make it to classic, pure audio gold.

After he came back to FAX for the return-to-form Namlook collaboration "2350 Broadway 4", it's not really surprising that "Inland" also sounds closer to Tetsu Inoue's 90s FAX releases (such as "Ambiant Otaku") than to the more experimental, glitchy stuff he had been making since leaving the label. This is still very much ambient drone music, though the drones develop more than on the Namlook collab from the same year, and there are hints of melody and some well-placed snaps and crackles to be heard too. Overall the mood is quite content and blissful, maybe the title of the album is a metaphor for home, or some kind of inner peace?Sadly, this was the last thing Inoue released before he vanished from the face of the earth. At this point it remains unclear whether he's passed away, or whether he just decided to quit releasing music and completely disappear from the public eye. If "Inland" turns out to be his testament, it's definitely a fine one, a serene and memorable statement.

Tetsu Inoue's album for FAX is his first for the label since 2000 and it's a beauty. Instead of the field recording, sound installation and ultra minimal electronica that he has been pursuing for some years, Mr. Inoue returns to the deep space, lush ambient soundscapes that harken back to 'Ambiant Otaku', 'Zenith' and 'Slow & Low'. This is gorgeous, glacially slow, a symphonic epic that is not to be missed. There are very few electronic composers who make music that inspires the awe that you will experience with 'Inland'. Hopefully there will be more.
