One of the first widely commercial available Drum & Bass mixes on CD included here by the one and only Bryan Gee , the headd honcho of V Recordings. Bought this many years (in early 97) ago as one of my first D+B Compilations (right after MUSIC BOX on Full Cycle by Roni Size). I fell in love with V Classic and especially the first 2 songs on this sampler 'Maintain' + 'It's Jazzy' with these mellow + dreamy female voices over fine accented rolling Beatz are among my all-time faves. It's been years since i listened to the fantastic 77 minute mix by Bryan G. Last night i was in the mood for some fine mixed drum + bass . Bryan takes enough time to let the trax shine , the sound quality is awesome. The sub-basses shook the walls and the roof of my sound booth aand gave me the feeling of sitting inside a huge Bass Box (this experience came of course courtesy of Dillinjah and Lemon D's adventurous bass programming). The last 15 minutes of the mix combine all the highlights from the collected trax , most vocals and melodies get highlighted before the end of the mix one more time . Man, this sound doesn't sound dated a tiny bit. Even today , when drum + bass is in fine form again , you will have big problems (if not look in vain) for a mix that great - solid and adventurous at the same time.Tthis is by far the best mix i own. Neither Goldie, norGrooverider; not even Khemistry & Storm came close on recorded mixes to the Godfather of the Bristol Drum + Bass movement !
