Still In Mind

The 6th of their 7 self released albums, this one actually got re-released after their 8th album (Music Has the Right to Children, the first they did for a major label) was such a big hit. I'd rather they had released the album that got them signed (BOC Maxima, which was a huge hit in internet pirate circles from 1996-1998 and led to their fame). Of course Music Has the Right to Children was 30% re-performed songs from BOC Maxima so I guess they didn't wan't to look like they were repeating themselves. Plus I'm not sure if mp3s of Twoism were circulating before Warp reprinted it so it was better getting something we hadn't heard before."But what do you think of the music on Twoism" I hear you asking. Well if you're already a Boards of Canada fan you'll love it, but I'm not sure it's the album to convince new listeners. Still, it's got the original version of the best song on BOC Maxima (Sixtyniner) so it's a decently strong offering. I WOULDN'T recommend paying a fortune for it though. Get the newest printing you can find rather than the oldest.

Just got my hands on this fixed repress after complaining to Amazon about receiving the old dirty repress, has anyone else noticed the Side A/Side B stickers are backwards or was I just the lucky one, lol.

Sounds great, little to no surface noise (although I have one pop in Basefree, but that's it). Bought it directly from Bleep and has the same matrix number as this one, so I think they all come with the proper recut now.

A beautiful EP that showcases BOC's overall sound. While they would build upon the instrumentation in this EP to become the Trip-hop masters they are now, this EP has some very beautiful melodies and banging drum beats.

Got my copy today, really happy to add this one to the collection. The record itself has no crackling sound but is a bit bubbly.

My copy doesn't have matrix runouts for some reason. Sound is good though except for some noticeable crackling on the last track of side B.

BOC's first official release on a label and what a great way to start. This mini-album perfectly set the tone for the first period of their widely heard music. This along with Hi Scores and Music Has the Right to Children make up an intriguing and moody trilogy of atmospheric and brilliantly produced tunes, dark but always with a sense of light at the end of the tunnel. I'm currently listening to the 2013 warp vinyl reissue and it sounds amazing. In general their music feels warmer and richer on vinyl.

Fantastic album as usual by BOC, but unfortunately my copy of this not-so-great repress I ordered off of here a several years ago was also disappointingly rather beat-up with several scruffs & hairlines on both sides, thus as a result, it causes quite a bit of surface noise as well a few annoying pops & crackles on both sides. Not sure if it's a pressing plant error or what, but it didn't help matters as the downright rude, condescending bastard (who went by the name of brainfart) that sold me on it here literally flat-out lied and labeled the vinyl as being near-mint or very good plus + at least (from what I remember) when it definitely wasn't. Then actually had the nerve to retaliate for no apparent reason by talking all kinds of shit and giving me a preposterous negative rating when I did nothing but honestly called him out for his shit since he purposely ripped me off... but before that, he also straight-up threatened to cancel my order keep after I had already paid for it saying that "there were plenty of other places where I could order this at" when all I did was ask him 'how long it would take to ship the record?' Smh I hope nobody else has encountered a similar problem like this.

Mine is fine although Campfire side C and D are horrible, lower volume than A and B and lots of audbile pops.
