Not at all,Photek and Source Direct were actually big fans of Star Trek the Next Generation and have sampled the show on other occasions.

Orbital utilize the same Star Trek NG sample on Orbital 1 & 2 (1991 & 1993). So it is most likely that Soure Direct just sampled it via either of those Orbital releases.

One of my all time favourite Source Direct releases, both of these tunes perfectly illustrate their talent for marrying the beautiful and the unsettling. The gorgeous drifting pads never quite manage to dilute the creepy, grimey nature at the heart of these tracks. Fabric of Space perfectly exemplifies this. Whilst the pads glisten, the eerie vibes sample and the minimal militant beat foreshadow later explorations of sinister atmospherics such as The Cult. Similarly, Bliss is about as upbeat as Source Direct ever got, and yet a single sample that feels slightly out of place leaves the listener feeling that all is not quite what it seems.

'Fabric of Space' is an excellent, sparse breakbeat track which rocks with an intelliegent mixture of beats, soundz & bass. Neat vocal sample too... "a twist in the... fabric of space..." An understated classic.
